Family Wopereis

You may have noticed, Ronald and Blue are slight history freaks. This includes family history. Blue climbed into the familytree. For her own family this meant serious research but Ronalds familytree was pretty much known, thanks to members of his family. We thankfully used the fruits of there labour and we like to share. For privacy reasons we start this familytree with our greatgrandparents. On this page you can find the familytree of the Wopereisfamily, starting with Ronalds greatgrandfather Johannes Hendrikus Wopereis.

Generation 12

128 Tonnis Specksgoor.
Note: First mentioned in 1617. He was the first to use the name Speksgoor. He must have had a different name before that. Tonnis moved early 1600 to a fertile piece of land named the ´specks-goor´ and build a house there. He then started calling himself Tonnis Specksgoor. His oldest son was named Hendrick after his grandfather.
The second son Geert would later go back to the name Wopereis.
Youngest daughter Geertien also later called herself Wopereis when she married Berent Ruhorst.
Further proof of decent is the fact that all the names of the children and grandchildren are the same as those of the grandparents and uncles and aunts. Tonnis Specksgoor's second wife Lumme te Moller mentions in a letter that her greatuncle Hendrick te Woepenreijse is staying with them.

Note: The oldest known person to use the name Wopereis was Werner te Wapenreyse who in 1460 payed tijns (tax) for a piece of land ( de Corte Naet) in Zieuwert. The also appears on a 'tinslist' from 1395. If taxes hade to be paid, we can assume that ther was a farmhouse on that land.
