Blue's art

artexplosion

I (Blue) have been making drawing like this since I was a young girl. I never received an education in the arts but I am as they call it 'autodidact'. Through the years I have developed my own style, especialy in my colouring pencil/crayon drawings. I also work with acrilic paint and pastel crayon, but mostly I work with colouring pencils/crayons. When people first see my work, they often don't realize what material it's made of. It's kind of hard to explain or discribe what it looks like, so I placed some pictures here. If you want to see me at work, you can find me every year on the anual Art-Explosion in Assen which is held in the month of may.

Work in progress

Here we have placed some pictures that give you an impression of how these drawings are made. This series of photo's was taken by Ronald
as Blue was working on the drawing 'vogelkoppen' (birdsheads). It shows how the picture starts with a sketch that I haven't really thought about, it sort of draws itself. Then it is a matter of adding the colours. A time consuming matter...but one I enjoy.

The artist at work. Here the very first beginning of the sketch. All I knew in advance was that I wanted to include the flamingo-like birdsheads.

Here some details of the sketch. The birdsheads turn into long necks that are intwined by the muchrooms that grow underground. The necks of the birds divides the drawing in two ' halfs', above and below ground.

The sun is still pale but it will get some colout soon.

art_05 When Blue is happy about her scetch she inks the scetch and then the most time consuming part of the work begins; the colouring. When Blue is working on a drwaing like this she will sitt at the table with her crayons for days.

Below ground and above ground becomes more obvious as the drawing begins to grow. .

The circle of water is often found in my larger drawings.
In this drawing I didn't hide little critters as I sometimes do, but little wire man. One stands on the rainbow as others climb up the ladder from underground.

Now the drawing realy begins to grow.
