Family Verbaan

You may have noticed, Ronald and Blue are slight history freaks. This includes family history. Blue climbed into the familytree. For her own family this meant serious research but Ronalds familytree was pretty much known, thanks to members of his family. We thankfully used the fruits of there labour and we like to share. For privacy reasons we start this familytree with our greatgrandparents. On this page you can find the familytree of the Wopereisfamily, starting with Ronalds greatgrandmother Arendje Verbaan.

Arendje Verbaan

Generation 4

1 Arendje Verbaan, born 23-12-1888 in Scheveningen. She died 1989 in Scheveningen, 101 years old.
She married 31-12-1913:

Cornelis van der Zwan born 17-09-1890 in Scheveningen. He died 1971 in Sydney. Son of Zier van der Zwan and Berendina Dijkhuizen.

During W.W.II the spouses are seperated. Cornelis survives the war Indonesia and after the war he moves to Australia. He was told Scheveningen was heavely bombed and he asumed his wife and children had died. Oddly he never checked this... Arendje and the children had survived. Two adult sons living in Peru and Engeland knew ther father was still alive but they did not return to the Netherlands untill the 60-ies. Untill then they had no contact with ther mother or siblings.
When a nephew of Javobus visits Australia he sees someone he recognizes from old photo's as his uncle Jacobus. It is his uncle who is not dead at all! The family was 'reunited' but the two spouces never lived as a couple again. Jacobus remarried and remained in Australia for the rest of his live.

Cornelis Verbaan

2 Cornelis Verbaan born 08-06-1854 in Scheveningen. He died 16-03-1942 in Scheveningen.
Note: Fisherman.
He married 09-06-1875:

3 Maria De Zwart, born 27-01-1852 in Scheveningen. she died 11-04-1944.
She was a daughter of Jogchem De Zwart and Maria Grootveld.

4 Cornelis Verbaan, born 25-10-1829 in Scheveningen. He died 03-11-1895 in Scheveningen.

He married 24-08-1853 in Scheveningen met:

5 Jacoba Verbaan, born 26-09-1830 in Noordwijk. She died 27-02-1924 in Scheveningen. She was a daughter of Johannes (Damiels) Verbaan and Zoetje Willemsd Groen.
Note: They were cousins. (both grandchildren of Daniel Verbaan and Dirkje Spaans)

Generation 7

8 Arie Daniëls Verbaan, baptized 28-09-1803 in Scheveningen. He died 09-10-1867 in Schiermonnikoog.
Note: Fisherman, drowned in the Northsea 09-10 1867, His body washed ashore at Simonszand, Schiermonnikoog. He was the helmsman on the fishingbarque "De Jonge Arie".
He married 13-06-1821:

9 Wilhelmina Bal, baptized 04-05-1800 in Scheveningen. She died 07-02-1870 in Scheveningen. She was a daughter of Floris Arens Bal and Pieternella van der Burg.

16 Daniël Verbaan, born 07-04-1782 in Scheveningen. He died 26-05-1819 in Scheveningen.
Note: fisherman and visserman and barman.
He married 16-02-1800:

17 Dirkje Spaans, baptized 07-10-1781 in Scheveningen. She died 30-11-1853 in Scheveningen. She was a daughter of Arie Leenderdzn Spaans and Jacoba Cornelisse (Giele) Den Heijer.

Generation 9

32 Daniël Klaasn Verbaan, baptized 01-02-1756 in Ter Heyde. He died in Northsea 14-08 1881.
Note: Captain of the privateer"De dappere Patriot" (the brave patriot).
Died on the Northsea when the ship exploded on 14 augustus 1781.
This happend two days after he got married.
He married 12-08-1781:

33 Grietje (Margrieta) van Duijvenbode, baptized 28-11-1762 in Scheveningen. She died 11-01-1851 in Rotterdam. She was a daughter of Gijsbert Maartens Van Duijvenbode en Willemina Hemmes

64 Klaas Aalberszoon Verbaan baptized 12-02-1713 in Monster. He died 25-05-1738 in Ter Heyde.
He married 25-03-1738:

65 Neeltje (Cornelia) Arendsdochter Hogenraed, born 22-06-1715 in Ter Heyde, baptized 23-06-1715 in Ter Heyde, Monster. She was a daughter of Ary Corsje Hogenraet and Stijntje Berwerts Vooys

128 Aalbert Gerrits Verbaan, baptized 18-02-1684 in Monster.
He married 09-02-1708:

129 Neeltje Claasdochter Jonker, baptized 05-09-1677 in Ter Heyde.
Notitie: Ther are document dated 5 November 1708 The Haque that state that Neeltje Arens Jonker Housewife of Gerrit Aalbertse Slodder (should be Aalbert Gerrits) residing on Ter Hey, owes her brother Olivier Arentz. Jonker also residing on ter Hey the som of 350 gulden which she has borrowed. She promised to do her very best to pay this back asoon as possible.

He married 12-12-1678:
