Juliana van Stolberg (1506 - 1580)

Here age 53. She was married to Willem de Rijke (William the Rich). They had 12 children together including there oldest Willem of Oranje. Juliana had 17 children and 160 grandchildren. She is the foremother of most European Royals.

Willem de Rijke (1487 - 1559)

Here age 74. His nickname comes from his number of childern, not his financial welth.

Willem van Oranje (1533 —1584)

Here age 47 was the leader of the 80 year war against Filips II of Spain. This would lead to The Netherlands as an independant Nation. Prince Willem van Oranje was murdered in Delft by Balthasar Gerards. He was married 4 times. He is viewed as the father and founder of the Netherlands.

Anna van Egmond (1533 —1558)

Here age 25, was the first wife of Wilem van Oranje. She was the mother of Filips Willem. Anna died only 25 years old.

Anna van Saksen (1544 - 1577)

Here age 26. She was the second wife of Willem van Oranje. They divorced because Anna was unfaithfull and even had a extramaritale daughter. Anna was declared insane. She was imprissoned in a castle on the river Rhine till she returned to her family in Dresden, shortly before her death.

Charlotte de Bourbon Montpensier(1546/1547 - 1582)

Here age 34. She was Willem van Oranje's third wive. They had 6 daughters in 7 years time. After the first assasination attempt on Willem on 18 maart 1582 she took care of her husband so intensely that she became weak and ill herself and died from pneumonia the same year.

Louise de Coligny (1555 -1620)

Here age 65 was the forth wive of prince Willem van Oranje. Her French lineage made Louise very unpopulair in The Netherlands. Zij was the mother of Frederik Hendrik.

Filips Willem (1554 - 1618).

Here age 51. Prince of Oranje, Count of Nassau, was the oldest son of Willem van Oranje and Anna van Egmont. Philips Willem was partly named after the Spanish king Filips II. After his father started fighting agains Filips II in 1568, Filips Willem was taken hostage by the Spanish and did not return to The Netherlands till 1596.

Eleonora de Bourbon-Condé (1587-1619)

She married age 19 in 1606 with the 51 year old Filips Willem van Oranje. This saved the family titel (through her lineage, although the couple didn't have any children.

Maurits van Oranje Nassau (1567 – 1625)

Here age 43. Son of Willem van Oranje and Anna van Saksen was Prince of Oranje, citykeeper from 1585 till his death capitain-general of the army of the Republic of the Seven United Netherlands. He won the battle at Nieuwpoort. Maurits never married but he did have 3 sons with Margaretha van Mechelen and more children with 5 other ladies..

Margaretha van Mechelen (1580 –1662)

Here age 30, was a noblewoman from the south of The Netherlands. Her mother was a descendant of the catholic branch of the Nassau family. She was the mistress of Maurits van Oranje from ca 1600 till 1610. The had 3 children with him that were treated differently then his other bastardchildren. Margarethe's children were part of life at court.

Frederik Hendrik van Oranje Nassau (1584 –1647)

Here age 56, Prince of Oranje, Count of Nassau, was born as the only son of Willem van Oranje and Louise de Coligny. He succeeded his halfbrother Maurits in 1625. As capitain-General of the army he preferred to besiege cities hence his nickname ' the cityforcer'

Amalia van SolmsBraunfels (1602 —1675)

Here age 38, countess of Braunfels, was the wife of Frederik Hendrik van Oranje. She came to live at the royalcourt in The Hague as a 18 year old lady-in-waiting to Elizabeth Stuart. They had 9 children but only one son survived: heir Willem.

Willem II van Oranje Nassau (1626- 1650)

Here age 24 was the only son of Frederik Hendrik and Amalia van Solms. He married age 15 to Maria Henriëtte Stuart. Signed the peacetreaty of Munster in 1648 which ended the 80-year war with Spain.

Maria Henriëtte Stuart (Mary Stuart I) (1631 - 1660)

Here age 19, Princess Royal and Prinses van Oranje-Nassau, was the oldest daughter of Charles I. She married only 10 years old. A few days after Willem II died from the smallpox, the couple's only child was born, Willem III van Oranje-Nassau.

Willem III van Oranje Nassau (1650 - 1702).

Here age 30, Prince of Oranje was citykeeper aswell as king of England, Ireland and Scotland (1689-1702). He is also known as Dutch William and King Billy. His mariage did not lead to children. He was burried in Westminster Abbey in Londen.

Maria Stuart II (1662 –1694),

Here age 18 reigned as Queen of England, Ireland and Scotland (as Mary II of Scotland). Maria married only 15 years old to her cousin Willem III.

Maria Louise van Hessen-Kassel (1688 - 1765)

Here age 22 was. After her husband citykeeper Johan Willem Friso, she ruled in his place from 1711 till 1731. Because she was so populair and loved she was nicknamed 'Marijke Meu' (aunt Marijke). She was the mother of Willem IV, who was born after his father had died. She also ruled for him and later for her grandson Willem V, after his mother Anna van Hannover had died.

Anna van Hannover (1709 —1759)

Here age 41 was a daughter of king George II of England. She married Willem IV van Oranje Nassau and reigned for her son Citykeeper Willem V from 1751 till 1759.

Here age 44 was the wife of citykeeper Willem V. She was the mother of the later king Willem I.

Lodewijk Napoleon Bonaparte (1778 - 1846)

Here age 32, was the younger brother of French emperor Napoleon I and the father of Napoleon III. In 1806 his brother named him king of the Netherlands and was in effect the first Dutch king.

Hortense de Beauharnais (1783-1837)

Here age 27 was the daughter of Josephine de Beauharnais, Napoleon Bonaparte's wife. They were married in 1802 but it was an unhappy mariage.

Wilhelmina van Pruisen II (1774 - 1837)

Here age 41 was the wife of king Willem I. Frederica Louisa Wilhelmina married only 16 years old to her cousin Willem Frederik van Oranje Nassau, later king Willem I.

Henriëtte d'Oultremont de Wégimont (1792 - 1864)

Here age 49. countess of Nassau, was the 2e wife of king Willem I. She was quit unpopular becouse her family came from the recently segregated Belgium. Willem had to give up his throne in order to marry her.

Here age 55. She belonged to the house Romanov and was a daughter of tsaar Paul I of Russia and a grandchild of Catharina the Great. In 1816 she married the later king Willem II.

Sophie van Württemberg (1818 –1877)

Here age 42 was the first wife of king Willem III. The mariage was very unhappy and the 3 sons all died young.

Emma van Waldeck Pyrmont (1858 –1934)

Here age 32 was the second wife of koning Willem III. She was 20 years old when she married 61 year old King who needed an heir. Willem III died when daughter Wilhelmina was only 10. Emma ruled in her name till Wilhelmina was 18 years old and became queen.

Koningin Wilhelmina (1880 –1962)

Here age 10, was queen of The Netherlands from 1890 till 1948. She was the grandmother of the current reigning queen Beatrix..

Louise Marie van Orléans (1812-1850)

Here age 33, became Belgiums first queen in 1832 as the wife of Leopold I. She was a daughter of king Louis Philips of Frankrijk and Leopold was a prince of Saksen-Coburg-Saalfeld. He was asked to become king of Greece but declined. He was then asked to become king of the newly founded state of Belgium in 1831.

Here age 44 jaar married in 1853 to the Crown Prince of Belgium Leopold II. She became queen in 1865.

Elisabeth of Beieren (1876 – 1965)

Here age 37 princess of België, was married to king Albert I. She was a cousin of Elisabeth of Austria better known as Sissi.

Astrid of Sweden (1905 –1935)

Here age 28 , was the daughter of prince Karl of Sweden and princess Ingeborg of Denmark. She was married to prince Leopold and became queen in 1934 after Albert I had died. In 1935 age 29 she died in a carcrash.

Here age 37. This Spanish countess was married king Boudwijn I who died 1993.

Paola Ruffo di Calabria (1937)

Here age 43 was an Italian princes who married prince Albert in 1959. She became queen of Beldium in 1993.

Mathilde d’Udekem d’Acoz (1973)

Here age 27, Duchess of Brabant, princess of Belgium, countess d’Udekem d’Acoz, aka: princess Mathilde is married to prince Filip of Belgium.

Here age 30, daughter of count John the blind of Luxemburg was married to John II, king of France aka: John the Good. He was only 13 years old when he married the 16 year old Bonne.

Angelique de Fontanges

Angelique de Fontanges (1661-1681)

Here age 20 was born as Marie Angélique de Scorailles de Roussille. She was one of the many lovers of Louis XIV who gave her the title of Countess of Fontange. The story goed that during a horseride she lost her headdress. She then tied her hair together with her garter. The king loved this so much it became fashion. Hence the name of this typical headdress: a fontange. She died only 20 years old, said to be poisoned by Francoise-Athenais, another one of the kings lovers.

Madame de Pompadour (1721-1764)

Here age 29 was born as Jeanne Antoinne Poisson. She became king Louis XV maitresse in 1745 . He build her a house on the grounds of Versailles and gave her the title of marquise de Pompadour.

Marie-Antoinette of Habsburg-Lotharingen (1755 - 1793)

Here age 30 was married to king Louis XVI. She was only 15 when she married him. During the French Revolution The whole royal family was taken from Versailles and imprisoned in Parijs. On october 16 1793 the guillotine ended her life.

Here age 41 was emperor of France from 1804 till 1815. After the lost battle of Waterloo he was bannished to the isle St. Helena. He died there age 51.

Joséphine de Beauharnais

Joséphine de Beauharnais (1763 – 1814)

Here age 37 was Napoleon Bonaparte's first wife. On december 2 1804 Joséphine was crowned empress by Napoleon. Joséphine and Napoleon had no children wich was the reason for the divorce in 1809 but she kept her title of empress.

Maria Louise of Austria (1791 –1847)

Here age 19 was Napoleon's second wife. The mariagge 1810 was an political alliance and needed to produce an heir. After the birth of Napoleon II in 1811 Maria Louise left Napoleon in 1814 and refused to join him on St.Helena.

Maria Pia of Savoye (1934 )

Here age 21, princess of Savoye is the daughter of Umberto II, the last king of Italy. In 1955 she married crown prince Alexander of Joegoslavia, son of Peter II who lost his thrown in 1941.

Isabella of Aragón (1451 - 1504)

Here age 39 married in 1469 to Ferdinand II of Aragon. Both were Catholic and very devout. Ferdinand instated the inquisition and the jews were forced to become christians. But Isabela also supported Columbus in his quest for the new world. She was the mother of Catharina of Aragon, the first wife of the English king Henry VIII.

Here age 30 was king of Sweden from about 995 till 1022 . Under his rule the first Swedish coins were produced in Igtuna, Skötkonung means treasureking or coinking.

Christina I of Sweden (1626 - 1689)

Here age 24 was queen of Sweden between 1632 and 1654. After her father death in 1632 she was crowned queen at the age of 6. Till her 18th birthday her fathers Reich Chancellor as regent. She often left the castle incognito dressed in mans clothes to find out what was happening in the country. She became a catholic and left for Rome where she was burried. In 1654 she abdicated in favour of her cousin.

Here age 40 was a grandchild of the Dutch king Willem I who married in 1850 with the Swedish king Karel XV. she died of pneumonia that she had caught when traveling back to Sweden from the Netherlands after visiting her mothers funeral.

Here age 47 is a daughter of a german businessman, her mother came from Brazil. She married Karel Gustaaf, king of Sweden in 1976, whom she had met during the Olympic Games in München in 1972.

Here age 41 was czarina of Russia from 1762 till 1796. She was a German princess who married the Russian Crown Prince Peter III. Catharina came to power after a coup against her husband in 1762. She is better known as Catharina the Great.

Alexandra Fjodorovna Romanov (1872- 1918)

Here age 40 was the favourit grandchild Alix of queen Victoria of England. She became a Russian orthodoxe and took the new name Alexandra Fjodorovna in order to marry czar Nicolaas II 1894. Son Aleksej suffers from hemofilia and in despair Alexandra turns to Raspoetin for help. In 1918 during the Russian revolution the family was killed in Jekaterinenburg by the Bolsheviks.

Here age 11 was the forth and youngest daughter of the last czar of Russia Nicolaas II and czarina Alexandra Fjodorovna.

Here age 31 was the actrice Grace Kelly who marries prince Reinier III of Monaco. They had three children: Caroline, Albert and Stéphanie. On september 13 1982, she had a stroke while driving her car. She died the next day from her injuries

Here age 20 is the youngest child of Reinier III of Monaco and Gracia. Princess Stéphanie was in the car with her mother when they had the accident that killed Princess Gracia.

Maria Theresia van Habsburg (1717 –1780)

Here age 30 arch-duchess of Austia, queen of Hongaria She was married to Frans I Stefan, duke of Lorraine, They had 16 children. She was so dedicated to her husband that after he died she whould wear only mourning clothes till her own death 15 years later in 1780. She was the only women to have ruled during the 650 year reign Habsburg-dynasty.

 

Elisabeth of Austria (Sissi) (1837 - 1898)

Here age 28 a princess of Bavaria becam empress of Austria when she married Emperor Frans Jozef I. She is better known as "Sisi". she was famous for her sence of fashion and her beauty. Her mother in law whould not allow her to raise her children herself. Frans Jozef's adultery aggravated the mariage. On september 10 1898 in Genève Elisabeth was stabbed by an italian anarchist and died.

Richard I (Lionhart) (1157-1199)

Here age 38 was king of England. While of on crusade his brither Hohn took control of the country. After his return to england he reclamed his trown. He takes up war with the French and is fataly injured in battle by an arrow. His nickname Lionhart refures to his reputation as a hawk.

Berengaria of Navarra (?- 1230)

Here age 25 was a daughter of Sancho VI of Navarra and Sancha of Kastilîa. She married Richard in 1191 but lived without him for many years for he was mostly of to war. She is the only English queen who never set foot on English ground.

Henry VIII en Catharina van Aragon

Henry VIII (1491-1547)

Here age 54 came from the house of Tudor and was king of England. He is known for his 6 wives: Catharina of Aragon (divorce), Anna Boleijn (decapitated), Jane Seymour (died after giving birth), Anna van Kleef (divorce), Catharina Howard (decapitated) and Catharina Parr, his last wive. In 1533 he founded the Anglican church in order to divorce his first wive Catharina.

Here age 45 was queen of England between 1509 and 1534. She was a daughter of Isabella and Ferdinand of Aragon, the king and queen of Spain. She married prince Arthur of Wales in 1501, the oldest son of Henry VII but he died a year later. She was then engaged to Henry VII's younger son Henry who was then only 12. They had a daughter mary who whould later become queen Anne. After the divorce she was bannished from the court.

Elizabeth I (1533 –1603)

Here age 59 was queen of England from 1558 till 1603 when she died. She was the daughter of Henry VIII and Anna Boleyn. she is considered to be one of the greatest heads of state who ever ruled. Elizabeth I never married and was known as the Virgin Queen. Elizabeth died age 69. Her death meant the end of the Tudordynasty.

Victoria of Saksen Coburg (1819 –1901)

Here age op 56 was queen of the United kingdom from 1837 till 1901 aswell as empress of Indiafrom 1877 till 1901. In 1840 she married her cousin Albert. They had 9 children who all married into royal families so that today there are few royals who are not related to her.
